We are seeking an enthusiastic sensory researcher to lead and manage the sensory panel activities of a key client. Located at the client’s site, this role provides a unique opportunity to work with a large manufacturing company whilst being part of an international sensory and consumer research agency.

The Role

You will be working with one of our key FMCG clients to provide in-house sensory panel management and leadership. You will organize all sensory tests and provide input to selection of the best approach to meet study objectives.  You will be responsible for panel scheduling, administration and recruitment of new sensory assessors as well as monitoring panel performance and providing remedial training where required.  You will coach and develop two senior technicians, effectively distributing weekly tasks. You will sign off their reports adding recommendations for the client whilst also carrying out more complex data analyses where needed for additional insights. You will identify new methods of interest and implement research plans for capability building.

This role will be based in Leicester, UK.

Requirements

  • Sensory Science background (degree in Food Science or equivalent)
  • Experience of panel leading preferably Spectrum
  • General panel management for both descriptive and discrimination panels
  • Broad knowledge of test methodologies ​in order to recommend the correct test and run appropriate sensory analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and negotiate effectively
  • Good presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Basic statistical skills and willing to learn/study more
  • Good IT skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Organized, good attention to detail and process driven,
  • Self-starter, self-motivating
  • Cultural sensitivity/flexibility in responding to different cultures.
