To communicate the flavour differences between a target kitchen product and a range of trial commercial formulations in order to direct development towards its goal.
SensEye™ created profiles for the target and trial formulations which defined the aroma, flavour and mouthfeel attributes of each and a clear picture of the differences. We also assessed their appeal to the consumer. Sensory profiles and consumer scores were combined to identify the Drivers of Liking and reveal the sensory profile of the ‘killer product’.
Having a common language enabled NPD to be briefed precisely on how to change the prototypes to match the ‘killer’ profile. Assessment by the Sensory Panel with confirmatory consumer research, validated that the target had been achieved. The product was successfully launched.
