Food & Drinks Trends & Innovations Conference
The 6th Annual Food & Drinks Trends & Innovation Conference took place in London this week and Sensory Dimensions were there to listen and learn from the many leading Food & Drinks Brands, Retailers and Chefs sharing their knowledge and insights on consumer trends and game-changing innovations.
We heard some compelling and insightful speakers and the message was clear - Social media has changed the way that we think and view food and our eating habits. We are hungry for innovation but the most successful products are those with which we are familiar, but have been reinvented and presented to us to be enjoyed in a different way or for a different occasion, like the 'Cronut'.
Manufacturers have created success with innovation where products have ‘created rituals’ through the way the product is used or consumed. Today's consumers are more focused on eating healthily and improving their wellbeing more than losing weight. Products need to offer a spectrum of health benefits as consumers seek products that impact their wellbeing & emotions.
The food service sector, historically considered to be behind the retail sector, is now using the same techniques to innovate and respond to consumer demands. The holistic product sensory experience is considered key to success for brands, retailers and chefs as they develop and reinvent their products and services.
