London College of Arts
On Monday we had our annual visit from the London College of Arts students. These amazing 2nd year under-graduate students come as part of their Cosmetic Science course to learn about how Sensory and Consumer Research can give them the insight they will need to develop the winning cosmetic products of the future.
We discussed Sensory Profiling and how it can support NPD and marketing, and how sensory testing and consumer research are increasingly being used to support on-pack claims. We also explored the logistical and ethical issues around consumer research in this sector.
After two practical sessions using fabrics and foundations, the students were fully appreciative of the challenge of describing and defining sensory attributes and familiar with how Repertory Grid technique can facilitate this process.
They brought and went away with chocolate (Thank you!) and hopefully lots of new ideas and learnings!
